Gothenburg is the next largest city in Sweden after Stockholm with approximately 500 000 inhabitants, living on a 450 square kilometre large area.The city is located on the Swedish west coast neigbour with Skagerrak and the North Sea. A big part of the Swedish import and expoprt is passing through the harbour of Gothenburg which is the largest in the Northern countries.

Travel

You can reach Gothenburg easily by plane, boat, train or car. Several airlines have daily regular flights to Gothenburg, and a lot of shipping companies have Gothenburg in their schedule routes. Within Gothenburg it is very convenient to travel by tram, bus and bicycle.

Stay

Depending on your taste it’s possible to find accommodation that suits you best. Choose between hotel, hostel, or if you like camping. Most of the hotels and hostels are located in the centre of the city with close distance to all the activities the city has to offer. If you instead would prefer to stay close to the sea and nature it wouldn’t be a problem either.

Gothenburg is known to offer delicious dishes for all tastes. You can find big variation of food from cultures all around the world, and for all types of wallets. One of the specialities’ in Gothenburg is fish and seafood, we recommend you to try it.

It’s easy to be a tourist in Gothenburg, almost everything is within walking distance, and the ocean is only a short trip away with the tram. The amusement park “Liseberg” is by far the most popular tourist attraction in Sweden; you should also pay a visit to Universeum, museums, and parks around the city. Gothenburg has a lot of shopping to offer and why don’t have a relaxing coffee in one of Gothenburg’s many cafés afterward.
