TATAA Biocenter has given courses in real-time qPCR since 2001 and is today the leading hands-on training organization in real-time PCR and molecular diagnostics in Europe. The first course was a basic one-day test and training course where the participants got to learn basic theory of qPCR, try practical experiments and get a hands-on feeling of several different qPCR instruments. This has continued to be the focus in our hands-on qPCR module even though the course has expanded to cover more theory and increased number of practical experiments.

Apart from running the qPCR experiments the results need to be analyzed in a proper way and thus qPCR specialized biostatistics is a necessity. Our Data analysis courses are available as one, two or three days modules where the three day "Experimental design and statistical data analysis" course cover the whole process from designing the real-time qPCR experiments and basic quantification to high throughput gene expression profiling with a lot of practical computer based examples.

We have also seen the need for better understanding of proper sample handling before the qPCR and have developed a Sample preparation and quality control course to cover these aspects. Without stable samples the results from the qPCR might be difficult to trust due to inhibitors, degradation or other sources of error that will affect the data and the reliability of the results

As we try to develop our course program all the time and keep it up to date with new technologies we continuously add new course modules. You can for example find courses in High Resolution Melting (HRM), Multiplex PCR, Immuno-qPCR and the MIQE guidelines.

Course structure

Most of our courses contain both theoretical lectures and practical hands-on training. We generally have a limit of 12 participants in those courses in order to have time for questions and more personal guidance in the lab, where the course participants work in groups of 2-4 persons. The courses start at 9 am and ends between 4.30 and 5.30 pm. All participants will get the course slides printed in a compendium before the lectures to be able to follow and take notes.

Course location

The regularly held courses are located at two different places. In Göteborg, Sweden, the courses are held at TATAA Biocenter's head quarter in the central city. In Prague, Czech Republic, the courses are held at the TATAA Biocenter at the Academy of Sciences campus.

TATAA also offers courses at other locations for example in conjunction with conferences and symposiums. We also do tailor made courses at the location of our customers' choice.

You find the course prices here. If registering more than 30 days in advance of the course week 10% discount is applied. Registration for a full 5 days course week also entails 10% discount. Participants from academia always has a lower price.
