Detection and analysis of circulating tumor cells in blood
TATAA
Molecular Diagnostic is a TATAA diagnostics facility in Prague, Czech Republic,
providing diagnostics detection and analysis of circulating tumor cells in
blood of breast cancer patients.
Advantages
- Before
surgery If tumor cells are present in the blood before surgery an increased metastatic
potential may be assumed. This can be reduced by an adequate therapy.
- After surgery
The presence of tumor cells in blood after surgery suggests occurrence of
metastases or residual disease. This finding should be considered for further
therapy decisions.
- During
therapy
Persistence of tumor cells in blood during therapy indicates failure of the
tumor to respond towards the chosen therapy.
- During aftercare
A sudden reappearance of tumor cells in blood is an early sign for metastasis
formation. A closer monitoring of the patient helps to detect and treat
metastases earlier then it was possible before.
